Lombok
Indonesia · Lesser Sunda Islands
Sandwiched between Bali and Sumbawa, Lombok offers some of Indonesia's most dramatic underwater topography — sheer walls plunging beyond 40 metres, strong currents that funnel nutrients through the Lombok Strait, and a reliable cast of blacktip and whitetip reef sharks. The Gili Islands off the northwest coast are the main hub, with sandy-bottomed turtle cleaning stations and colourful reef crests sitting above the drops. Visibility regularly exceeds 25 metres and water temperatures stay warm year-round, making Lombok an accessible yet rewarding destination for intermediate and advanced divers alike.
