Siargao
Philippines · Asia Pacific
Siargao is best known as the Philippines' surf capital, but beneath the waves lies a world-class diving destination shaped by its position in the Coral Triangle. The Bucas Grande island group to the south contains Sohoton Cove, a network of tidal marine lakes and limestone caverns where endemic stingless jellyfish drift in brackish water. Outside the lake system, current-swept channels deliver schooling jacks, whale sharks in season, and pristine reef slopes draped with soft corals and sea fans. Macro photographers find outstanding subjects in the muck zones around Daco Island.
