Mubarraz Reef
Abu Dhabi · United Arab Emirates
Mubarraz Reef is a shallow natural coral system off Abu Dhabi's southern coast, unusual in the Gulf for its relatively intact hard coral coverage and thriving invertebrate communities. Brain corals and massive Porites heads dominate the shallower sections, providing nesting habitat for a resident population of hawksbill turtles that can be observed at close range throughout the year. The site is a preferred training ground for Abu Dhabi dive centres and also draws experienced photographers for its rich macro life.
