Underwater at SS Mercury Wreck

SS Mercury Wreck

Abu Dhabi · United Arab Emirates

The SS Mercury, a decommissioned cargo vessel intentionally sunk off Abu Dhabi, rests upright in 28 metres of water and has become one of the UAE capital's most celebrated dive sites. The hold and engine room are fully penetrable and colonised by sea fans, encrusting sponges, and hard corals that grow thicker each season. Grouper, snapper, and occasional reef sharks cruise the superstructure while the sandy surrounds harbour stingrays and flatfish.
