West Channels

Aldabra Atoll · Seychelles

The West Channels of Aldabra offer a series of narrow passages through the atoll rim where thundering tidal flows sculpt extraordinary coral formations and create some of the Indian Ocean's most dramatic drift diving. Massive Napoleon wrasse, bumphead parrotfish schools, and white-tip shark aggregations patrol the channel walls, while the outer reef drop-off beyond the channels reveals pristine deepwater gorgonians and resident barracuda. The absolute isolation of this site means encounters carry a profound sense of discovery.
