Hairy Frogfish Ridge

Dive site

A shallow rubble and algae ridge running from 5 to 18 metres where the combination of encrusting algae, hydroids, and sponge patches creates perfect camouflage for multiple hairy frogfish individuals at any one time. Hairy frogfish at this site appear in yellow, black, white, and orange colour morphs — each one invisible until you are centimetres away. Guides maintain knowledge of resident individuals between dives and the site consistently produces multiple encounters per dive. Also reliable for leaf scorpionfish in rubble hollows and occasional Rhinopias on the deeper rubble slope.
