Queen angelfish are ubiquitous on the barrier reef, grazing on sponges and tunicates among the coral heads. Their electric blue and yellow coloration makes them one of the most visually striking residents of the reef, and pairs are frequently seen maintaining feeding territories. Juveniles have a distinctive banded pattern and are often found sheltering in shallow coral rubble near the reef crest.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
