Fresh Creek Channel is one of the most reliable spots in the Bahamas for high-density reef shark encounters without baiting or feeding, with groups of 10 to 30 individuals regularly seen on flood tides. The sharks exploit the channel as a hunting corridor, using the current to intercept schools of jacks and grunts funneled through the cut. Their consistent presence here reflects the protection afforded by the surrounding Andros reef system and low fishing pressure in the channel.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
