MV Ida Maria Wreck
Anguilla · Anguilla
Deliberately sunk as an artificial reef, the MV Ida Maria lies upright and largely intact at 27 metres, her superstructure rising to 14 metres and forming an instant ecosystem of sponges, hydroids, and encrusting corals. Resident moray eels occupy every crevice, while shoals of glassy sweepers billow from the holds and a large nurse shark frequently rests beneath the stern overhang. The wreck sits in open sand that attracts spotted flounder and southern stingrays, making the surrounding substrate almost as rewarding as the wreck itself.
