Underwater at Ligpo Point

Ligpo Point

Dive site

Ligpo Point marks the southern tip of Ligpo Island, where strong tidal currents sweep past a sloping reef that drops from 8 to 35 meters. The current aggregates schools of hundreds of yellow-stripe scad, jacks, and barracuda along the point's lee side, while the upwelling brings cooler nutrient-rich water that sustains exceptional soft coral density. The site is considered one of Anilao's best intermediate to advanced dives: buoyancy control is essential in the current, but the rewards include consistent thresher shark sightings in the 25 to 35 meter range during the northeast monsoon months.
