Underwater at Shark Point

Shark Point

Ant Atoll · Micronesia

Shark Point sits on the exposed western tip of Ant Atoll where the reef edge meets open water and current lines converge, creating a natural aggregation point for the atoll's shark population. Grey reef sharks are present on virtually every dive in groups of five to twenty individuals, and whitetip reef sharks rest in sandy gullies along the reef slope. The point also delivers some of Pohnpei's best large pelagic encounters: silvertip sharks appear on stronger current days, and the site is one of the region's most consistent locations for sighting oceanic whitetip sharks in the blue water beyond the reef edge.
