Kemer Reef
Antalya · Turkey
A bold reef system extending from the shoreline south of Kemer, its rocky walls dropping through 30 metres of crystalline water past ledges crowded with grouper and barracuda hovering in loose, shimmering formations. The reef's seaward edge attracts pelagic visitors including amberjack and occasional tuna drawn by the strong thermal gradients meeting inshore waters. Posidonia seagrass meadows in the shallows provide nursery habitat for juvenile fish and feeding grounds for loggerhead turtles that are regularly encountered throughout the year.
