Phaselis Underwater Ruins
Antalya · Turkey
The partly submerged southern harbour of ancient Phaselis lies just offshore from a UNESCO-protected archaeological site, its Hellenistic and Roman quay stones and column drums now forming an artificial reef teeming with fish in crystal clear, shallow water. Amphora fragments and worked stone lie scattered across a sandy floor at 6 to 14 metres, providing ecological structure that dense clouds of damselfish, bream, and salema exploit as territorial and feeding zones. The combination of genuine archaeology and abundant marine life in gin-clear visibility makes this one of the most visually distinctive dive sites on the Turkish coast.
