Overview

Imperial Japanese Navy seaplane tender sunk by US carrier aircraft on 24 September 1944 — Coron's largest warship wreck. The 114 m hull lies on its port side between 22 and 38 m, almost torn in two near the stern where a Kawanishi 'Emily' flying boat once rode metal tracks. The signature sight is the massive seaplane crane fallen off the hull onto the sand, circled by schooling batfish and barracuda. Penetration reaches the engine room and its four diesel engines.

Briefing note

Advanced, depth- and overhead-aware dive. Currents run moderate to strong and are slack-dependent; engine-room and cargo-hold penetration requires wreck certification, lights and a reel.
