Lockheed L-1011 TriStar Wreck
Aqaba · Jordan
Widebody trijet airliner scuttled on 26 August 2019 by Jordan's Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority as the Red Sea's largest aircraft wreck. The 50 m fuselage sits upright on sand off South Beach with all three engines still mounted and the tail fin reaching toward the surface. Two doors aft of the cockpit lead into the cabin past pilot seats and rows of passenger frames. Glassfish swarm the shaded interior, lionfish hold station on the wing roots, hawksbill turtles cruise the rudder, and eagle rays drift past the sandy shadow during winter.

For this site
- Primary dive torch · Cabin and cockpit interiors are dim even in midday Red Sea light; a torch makes glassfish swarms and instrument panels pop.
- 5mm wetsuit · Winter water in the Gulf of Aqaba sits in the high teens; longer bottom times call for a thicker suit Nov to Mar.↗
