Turkish Wreck

Aqaba · Jordan

A steel cargo vessel of disputed Turkish registry — local dive lore names her simply the Turkish Wreck — scuttled in Aqaba Bay and now resting upright on a sand shelf at 25 m with her bow pointing south. The wreck is compact and completely penetrable: a main cargo hold, a small engine room, and the bridge are all accessible within open-water limits. The superstructure is blanketed in yellow and orange soft corals with dense aggregations of glassfish filling the hold interior. Crocodilefish rest motionless on the sandy seabed around the hull, and a resident Napoleon wrasse patrols the stern at most dives.
