Spotted morays are a fixture of Caribbean wreck environments, using hull openings and collapsed compartments as daytime retreats. They are cooperative hunters: morays and roving grouper have been documented actively coordinating to flush fish from crevices, with each species taking prey the other cannot reach. Carlisle Bay's wrecks support unusually high moray density due to the abundant prey in the artificial reef structure.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
