Layag-Layag Reef
Batangas · Philippines
Layag-Layag Reef is an offshore pinnacle rising from 40 meters to within 8 meters of the surface, swept by open-ocean currents that bring spectacular concentrations of large fish including Napoleon wrasse, barracuda schools, and dogtooth tuna. The pinnacle's upper sections are covered in dense hard coral growth and sea fans, while the deeper flanks attract schooling fusiliers in numbers that can darken the water column. This is Batangas' most impressive big-fish site and requires Advanced certification due to the currents and open-water conditions.
