South Wall
Bawean Island · Indonesia
Bawean's southern coastline plunges into a near-vertical wall starting at 8 metres and exceeding 50 metres depth. Black coral trees and whip corals colonise the deeper sections, while the upper wall is blanketed in encrusting sponges and small sea fans. Schooling yellowfin goatfish and midnight snapper patrol the wall face, and occasional hammerhead sharks have been reported cruising in the blue water beyond the wall's edge.
