Spotted eagle rays visit Catalinita's sandy flats and reef channels to excavate buried molluscs and crustaceans, their disc-shaped bodies and polka-dot patterning making them unmistakable. Aggregations of three to eight individuals are regularly observed circling the deeper outer pinnacles in the afternoon hours when tidal flow is strongest.
