Le Galite East Pinnacle
Dive site
The Le Galite archipelago rises from deep water 60 kilometres north of Tabarka, far enough offshore to receive clean Atlantic-influenced current and attract open-ocean species rarely seen along Tunisia's inshore reefs. The East Pinnacle of the main island drops from 8 metres at its summit to beyond 40 metres on its seaward face, encrusted with exceptionally dense red coral colonies, deep-water gorgonians, and branching antipatharian black corals below 30 metres. Yellowfin tuna pass through in late summer. A resident population of common dolphins associates with the archipelago year-round. Monk seal sightings have been reported here — Le Galite holds one of the Mediterranean's few remaining Mediterranean monk seal refuges. This site requires a live-aboard or overnight charter from Tabarka.
