Helmet Wreck
Blue Corner · Palau
An unidentified Japanese Army cargo ship resting upright on the floor of Malakal Harbor, sunk by US carrier aircraft during Operation Desecrate One on March 30, 1944. Bow lies at 15 m, stern at 35 m. The aft holds still cradle stacked Japanese steel helmets fused into corroded heaps, alongside rifles, gas masks, depth charges, ceramic sake jars, and three radial engines from Zeke fighters. Glassfish swarm the bridge and lionfish hover above the gunwales.
