Ildiz Reef
Bodrum · Turkey
Ildiz Reef is a submerged rocky pinnacle system rising from sandy bottom to within a few metres of the surface, draped in gorgonian fans and encrusting coralline algae that support one of the most diverse fish communities in the Bodrum area. Large dentex cruise the open water above the pinnacle while grouper hold station in the deeper crevices, and nudibranchs pepper the algae-covered rocks throughout the year. The site's position in moderate current brings excellent visibility and a steady supply of nutrients that keep the reef productive.
