Underwater at Big Brother — North Plateau

Big Brother — North Plateau

Brothers Islands — Walls and Deep · Egypt

The north end of Big Brother is where the Numidia cargo wreck lies broken in two sections across the reef slope at 8 to 80 m — the bow section is at recreational depth while the stern disappears into the deep. The plateau at 10 to 20 m is carpeted in table corals and patrolled by grey reef sharks nearly every dive. Schooling hammerheads appear in the blue water off the north tip in summer, sometimes in groups of 20 or more. Currents here are stronger and less predictable than the south wall, channelled around the north point of the island. Advanced divers get the full depth range; recreational divers stay on the plateau.
