Underwater at Cape Pinnacles

Cape Pinnacles

Dive site

A cluster of submerged granite pinnacles rising from 30 metres to within 8 metres of the surface at Ghana's southernmost point. The Guinea Current sweeps past the pinnacles year-round, delivering plankton and attracting large aggregations of snapper, jack, and Atlantic permit. Blacktip and Caribbean reef sharks circle the deeper pinnacles in the afternoon, and green turtles rest in crevices between the boulders. The rocks are encrusted with uncommon West African gorgonians, hydroids, and encrusting sponges found at very few other documented sites in the Gulf of Guinea.
