Punta Cahuita
Cahuita · Costa Rica
The tip of Cahuita National Park protects Costa Rica's largest coral reef. The reef begins in shallow 1 to 2 meter waters extending to 5 to 10 meters at interesting coral formations. Brain corals the size of washing machines, sea fans, gorgonians, and staghorn corals dominate. Over 500 fish species including parrotfish, angelfish, damselfish, and green moray eels inhabit the reef. Green sea turtles, nurse sharks, and stingrays are common sightings.
