El Tesoro Wreck
Cartagena / Rosario Islands · Colombia
El Tesoro is a deliberately sunk cargo vessel resting upright at 25 metres, one of the most colonised artificial reefs in the Colombian Caribbean. In the years since scuttling the hull has been claimed by encrusting sponges, black corals, and sea fans, while moray eels occupy every hatch and porthole. Barracuda school above the bridge and a resident green turtle regularly circles the stern. The wreck is diveable at all skill levels — the shallow superstructure tops out at 12 metres, making it an ideal multi-level dive with excellent opportunities for overhead penetration of the cargo holds.
