Nurse Shark Garden
Dive site
A broad sandy flat at 6 to 14 m dotted with coral heads and sponge clusters where nurse sharks rest in groups of up to a dozen in the shallow overhangs — densities here are exceptional even by Caribbean standards, likely because the biological reserve's no-take rules have been enforced by the resident Garifuna community since 1993. Southern stingrays forage in the sand between sharks.
