Nutfa Bagan
Cenderawasih Bay · Indonesia
A second cluster of bagan platforms roughly 7 km southwest of Kwatisore where a smaller but equally reliable cohort of 4 to 8 resident whale sharks feeds. Because fewer dive boats visit Nutfa, sharks are slightly less habituated to divers, allowing observation of more natural vertical-feeding posture without the competition for position common at Kwatisore. The surrounding water column beneath the platforms hosts dense aggregations of anchovies and juvenile fish, which also attract spinner dolphins and silvertip sharks on most mornings. Depth under the platforms is around 600 m; dives are conducted in the top 10 to 15 m of the water column.
