Trawler Alley

Dive site

A cluster of three small fishing trawlers sunk in close proximity over a sandy bottom at 14 to 22 metres, Trawler Alley has become one of the most popular recreational wreck sites in Romanian waters due to its relatively shallow depth and good summer visibility. The wrecks date from the 1960s to 1980s and are heavily encrusted with Black Sea mussels, bryozoans, and the red alga Ceramium. Mullet schools pass through the area in summer, drawn by the nutrient upwelling influenced by Danube River outflow roughly 60 km to the north. The site suits Open Water divers comfortable with cold conditions and offers photographers a diverse range of macro subjects in the encrustation.
