Ereikoussa Island
Corfu · Greece
Ereikoussa is one of the Diapontia islands northwest of Corfu, small enough to be largely undeveloped and surrounded by waters that see minimal diving pressure — a combination that produces the healthiest marine life in the broader Corfu area. Rocky reef fingers extend into clear open Ionian water to 30 metres, their flanks festooned with red gorgonians and large sponge formations. Dolphins regularly pass through the channel between Ereikoussa and its neighbouring islands, and the sighting of bottlenose dolphins during a surface interval is a near-daily occurrence in summer.
