Akitsushima Wreck
Coron · Philippines
The Akitsushima is Coron's crown jewel — a 118-meter Japanese seaplane tender resting at 28 to 40 meters that is encrusted in hard and soft corals and swarming with lionfish, batfish, and giant frogfish. The ship's immense hull, crane derricks, and intact superstructure create an eerie cathedral effect that experienced wreck divers rank among Southeast Asia's finest. An onboard single-engine floatplane cradle visible through the hold makes this site historically irreplaceable.
