Cap Corse's exposed headlands concentrate barracuda in large hunting schools from May through October, drawn by the smaller fish that aggregate around the rocky structures. Walls of silver barracuda, sometimes numbering several hundred individuals, circle in the mid-water column. The open Mediterranean setting allows encounters with truly pelagic individuals not seen at more sheltered sites.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
