Reserve protection has allowed grouper populations to rebuild substantially in the Lavezzi area. Large individuals inhabit the deeper granite boulders while juveniles are common across the shallower reefscape. Encounters here feel wild and unscripted — these are not habituated dive-site groupers but genuinely wild apex predators on their home territory.
