Grotte des Moraines

Dive site

A sea cave accessible from below, the Grotte des Moraines opens into a chamber that surfaces into a dark, bat-filled gallery above the waterline. Divers enter through a wide arch at 8 metres and can explore the ceiling, festooned with white and yellow encrusting sponges growing in the absence of light. Moray eels mass near the entrance, and the cave's exit frames a cobalt-blue open-water shot that is among the most reproduced in Mediterranean dive photography.
