Playa Lagun

Westpunt · Curaçao

A narrow cove on Curaçao's northwest coast where calm, sheltered water and a gradual sandy slope create ideal conditions for macro and shore diving. Seahorses — both longsnout and lined — are resident in the sea grass and rubble patches at 6 to 12 m. Flying gurnard walk the sandy bottom on pectoral fin spines, displaying electric-blue spotted wings when threatened. The cove walls are draped in colorful sponge communities including rope sponges, azure vase sponges, and encrusting pink sponge. A turtle cleaning station sits at 15 m on the eastern wall where hawksbill turtles queue for cleaner wrasse.
