Overview
A 50 m coastal freighter that capsized just outside Willemstad's harbor on 30 September 1977, overloaded with cargo bound for Venezuela. It sits upright on the sand at about 30 m with its bow facing open water, the wheelhouse near 25 m and the mast rising toward 15 m. Decades of growth have sheathed the hull in orange cup coral and sponges, and dense schools of tarpon hang over the deck alongside barracuda, horse-eye jacks, and snapper. Green moray, frogfish, and banded coral shrimp work the macro angles. A deep dive with current, often closed when cruise ships occupy the adjacent Mega Pier.
Briefing note
Within the Curaçao Marine Park. A deep wreck (~30 m) for advanced divers, with current that can pick up and surface boat traffic at the harbor mouth, so carry an SMB. Diving is prohibited when a cruise ship is docked at the adjacent Mega Pier. Interior penetration is for trained wreck divers only.
