Westpunt · Curaçao
A 50 m coastal freighter that capsized just outside Willemstad's harbor on 30 September 1977, overloaded with cargo bound for Venezuela. It sits upright on the sand at about 30 m with its bow facing open water, the wheelhouse near 25 m and the mast rising toward 15 m. Decades of growth have sheathed the hull in orange cup coral and sponges, and dense schools of tarpon hang over the deck alongside barracuda, horse eye jacks, and snapper. Green moray, frogfish, and banded coral shrimp work the macro angles. A deep dive with current, often closed when cruise ships occupy the adjacent Mega Pier.
