Whale Shark Passage
Dive site
A deep-water channel between the peninsula and the offshore seamount where seasonal plankton blooms attract whale sharks between November and January. Divers drift along the channel edge while whale sharks filter feed at mid-water, often within arm's reach. Sand tiger sharks are resident year-round along the sandy bottom at 25 to 35 metres. Strong upwelling brings cold, nutrient-rich water that supports Atlantic sailfish and occasional hammerheads passing through at depth.
