Champagne Reef Dominica
Dominica · Dominica
Volcanic CO2 vents on the seafloor release a constant stream of warm bubbles through the coral, creating a champagne effect visible from the surface. Water temperature above the vents reaches 27°C while the surrounding reef sits at 24°C. Damselfish, chromis, and parrotfish are abundant on the healthy hard coral, and the shallow depth means extended bottom time with no decompression concerns. Shore entry over volcanic black rock is manageable for beginners with proper briefing.
