Scott's Head Dropoff

Dominica Sperm Whale Coast · Dominica

Scott's Head is the narrow promontory at Dominica's southwestern tip where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic, and the dropoff on its western face is one of the most dramatic wall dives in the Lesser Antilles. The wall plunges from 6 metres to beyond recreational limits, covered in massive barrel sponges, deepwater gorgonians, and black coral colonies. Visibility exceeds 30 metres on calm days, and the meeting of two current systems pushes nutrients along the wall, supporting dense populations of creole wrasse, schooling jacks, and frequent encounters with hawksbill turtles. The nearby submerged pinnacle known as L'Abym adds a second dive option with pelagic action.
