Green turtles are so abundant at Bulan that it is common to see 5 or more individuals in a single dive, resting under coral overhangs or grazing methodically across the seagrass meadows in shallow water. The local fishing community has protected turtles here for over a decade, and the animals show remarkably little fear of divers, allowing close observation of natural feeding and resting behavior. Nesting females return to Bulan beaches each year, making this a complete sea turtle ecosystem rather than just a dive attraction.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
