The Manta Bowl is one of the Philippines' most reliable manta aggregation sites, with groups of 5 to 15 animals common during flood tide. Mantas use the bowl's geometry to concentrate zooplankton, performing tight barrel rolls and somersaults just meters from hovering divers. The cleaning station dynamics are particularly well-studied here, with individual mantas recognized by their unique spot patterns returning season after season.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
