Pegasus Seamoth

Eurypegasus draconis

Sighting evidence at Basak Muck, Dumaguete

Pegasus seamoths walk across the open sand at Basak on modified pectoral fins in an unhurried, prehistoric-looking gait, grazing on small worms and crustaceans invisible to divers. They pair-bond for months and the two individuals of a bonded pair can often be found within centimetres of each other across successive dives.
