Coral Beach Nature Reserve
Eilat · Israel
The world's northernmost coral reef doubles as Israel's most visited dive site, a continuous shallow reef flat that stretches 1.2 km along Eilat's southern waterfront and has been under strict no-take protection since 1964 — making it one of the longest-protected coral reefs on earth and a living laboratory for coral resilience research. Entry via marked swim lanes and underwater trail ropes guides divers through the shallowest section (2-8 metres) before the reef edge drops away into a sloping wall to 30 metres where larger species congregate away from the shore day-tripper traffic. The reserve's proximity to Eilat's marine research institutions means scientific monitoring teams are frequently encountered underwater, adding a research dimension to every dive.
