Underwater at Tetamanu Wall

Tetamanu Wall

Fakarava · French Polynesia

Just inside the South Pass on the lagoon side, Tetamanu Wall is a sloping coral reef that descends from 6 m at the reef flat to over 30 m into the lagoon. This site rewards slow divers — the wall is carpeted in hard Acropora and Porites corals with dense aggregations of butterflyfish, Moorish idols, and parrotfish grazing the surface. Napoleon wrasse patrol lazily, and large moray eels occupy crevices throughout. The mild current in the lagoon makes this an ideal site for less experienced divers and for those wanting to extend bottom time after a South Pass drift.
