Shark Alley
False Bay · South Africa
Shark Alley is the channel between Geyser Rock and Dyer Island near Gansbaai, world-famous as the highest-density great white shark aggregation site on earth. The cold, murky waters here pulse with energy year-round as great whites patrol the channel hunting Cape fur seals from the 60,000-strong colony on Geyser Rock. Bronze whaler sharks also frequent the channel in substantial numbers, and lucky divers may spot sevengill cow sharks cruising the kelp margins in the deeper sections.
