Saksun Sea Inlet
Faroe Islands · Faroe Islands
Saksun is one of the most photographed landscapes in the Faroe Islands — a circular tidal lagoon enclosed by steep grass-topped cliffs, accessible from the sea only through a narrow and dramatic basalt gorge. Beneath the lagoon's calm surface lies a unique brackish-to-marine transition environment where grey seals haul out on sandy banks and Atlantic wolffish patrol the deeper channels. The site is accessible only around high tide by boat, adding an element of expedition planning to what is already an extraordinarily beautiful diving destination.
