Punta Mangle
Fernandina Island · Ecuador
Punta Mangle on Fernandina's northeastern coast is sheltered from the full force of the Cromwell Current, creating a calmer dive environment with better visibility than the island's exposed western sites. The mangrove-fringed bay provides nursery habitat for juvenile sharks and rays, and the underwater lava shelves are blanketed in the cold-water corals and invertebrate communities unique to Fernandina's pristine reef system. This is the most accessible and diver-friendly site on Fernandina, suitable for a wider range of experience levels.
