Labuanbajo Night Reef
Flores · Indonesia
The reefs immediately surrounding Labuanbajo come alive after dark in a way that outstrips many purpose-built night dive sites, with hunting mantis shrimp, coconut octopus, and blue-ringed octopus emerging from their daytime hiding places to forage across rubble and sand. Manta rays visit nearby cleaning stations at dawn and dusk year-round, drawn to the channel currents that push plankton past Labuanbajo's outer reefs. This is the gateway to Komodo National Park and the combination of world-class night diving with day trips to Komodo's manta sites makes Labuanbajo one of the most versatile dive bases in the Lesser Sunda Islands.
