Ginnie Springs
Florida Springs · United States
Ginnie Springs on the Santa Fe River in Gilchrist County is the flagship cave diving destination in Florida and one of the most visited cave diving sites on Earth. Seven spring vents feed the main swimming area, and the Ginnie Spring vent itself opens into the Devils Eye cave system — a network of passages that trained cave divers can follow for thousands of feet into the aquifer. Visibility in the open basin runs 30 meters on clear days; inside the cave it is effectively infinite until a careless fin stroke disturbs the silt floor. Open-water divers can explore the spring run and the Ballroom cavern zone. The site operates as a privately managed resort with camping, equipment rental, and on-site cave diving courses year-round.
